Mangalsutra
The
word 'mangalsutra' is derived from the two words i.e mangal means holy or auspicious and sutra means thread A
mangalsutra is a necklace that a Hindu groom ties around the bride's neck in a
ceremony called Mangalya Dharanam, which identifies her as a married woman. The
woman continues to wear the mangalsutra as a sign of her marital status all her life
or till the time the husband is alive as a sign of their marriage. If it is not possible to make a mangalsutra
with a cord of gold or silver, they make it by stringing black beads in a
thread.
For
a married couple it defines as a sign of
mutual love and goodwill, understanding and faithful commitment to one another.
