Kalira
A Punjabi bride’s wedding is imperfect without the resplendent
Kalira, or Kalirey. Kalira is also known
as Shaadi Bells. These are available in silver or gold umbrella
shaped ornaments which are attached to
the bride’s Chura, which is a set of
traditional white and red colored bangles worn on each arm. It is tied to the
chura of the bride on the day of the wedding by her sisters, friends and
relatives. Kaliras are seen as a blessing to the bride to have a blissful and
happily married life.
